VOIP Video Wireless Handheld
Miscellaneous My daughter will be one year old in a few weeks, and my parents, although they live 9 time zones away, will be able to interact with her over an audio/video link, as they first did when she came home from the hospital, almost a year ago.
Although video-chatting technology (webcams) have been available for a while (a co-worker planted one over my cube in 1997), available bandwidth and the technology haven't really been all that pleasant until lately.
I regularly video-chat with my retired parents using Apple's iSight and iChat technologies, getting high quality sound and video for 0 additional cents over my broadband connection, while I used to rack up hundreds of dollars in phone bills per month.
